Deputies patrolling in St. Helena arrested a Napa man on possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after they spotted a vehicle pulled off the road at the Zinfandel Bridge, sheriff’s Capt. John Robertson said.

“They noticed the driver was smoking something from a glass pipe,” Robertson said.

The deputies contacted Jose Luis Gonzalez, 41, and searched him and his vehicle, Robertson said.

In addition to the pipe, deputies found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine during the search and prescription drugs that did not belong to Gonzalez, Robertson said.
