Betty Rhodes: Reflecting on Napans past
By Betty Rhodes
Welcome to the Senior Corner. It is our intention to present articles of interest to seniors, as well as to others.
Also, we welcome feedback from you on what your concerns and interests are.
Our first article will be by way of an introduction. As a senior, I find that Napa County has many avenues of interest to seniors.
We can be as busy as we choose to be. There are wonderful classes available to seniors throughout Napa Valley. An excellent source is Napa Valley Adult School, and as an added bonus, seniors are given quite a price break when it comes to tuition.
Through the Napa Valley College, trips and tours are available as well as a fascinating series of classes at NVC’s Emeritus College. They note in their catalog that their “sole criterion for participating in this program is the desire to learn and grow. Our philosophy is that learning can be fun, enriching and on going.” I must say, they are able to arrange some fascinating classes.
We’ve all heard the expression, “Be well in body, mind and spirit.” Doing some form of volunteering is certainly one way to achieve these objectives. As we grow older, it’s key to keep our minds and bodies active and to feel good about ourselves. We need to keep growing and learning. It makes growing older so much more interesting. Find your passion, go for it and see what a difference it makes in your life.
I look forward to meeting you and hearing from you. Please share with us, how are you finding your joy and fulfillment as a senior?
This column is for you so feel free to comment, offer suggestions for future articles, etc. Please send any items that you feel would be of interest to seniors to
bettyrrhodes@sbcglobal.net.
Thank you, and see you in two weeks.
