Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man at the Rutherford Grill Monday night after two female patrons each reported the man, who was naked in the women’s restroom, attempted to rape them.

When the deputies arrived, they found two men had barricaded Hugo Pacheco in the bathroom while waiting for law enforcement to get to scene, sheriff’s Capt. John Robertson said. “They found the suspect sitting in the back stall. He was fully clothed when the deputies got there.”

Two female customers told deputies they went to use the bathroom and they were attacked by Pacheco, Robertson said.

The women used the restroom separately. The first woman said when she walked into the restroom, Pacheco, who was naked, grabbed her and tried to pull her into the back stall, Robertson said. “She was able to get away, but the suspect tore her sweater.”

The next woman was allegedly attacked when she came out of the bathroom stall, he said. “Pacheco grabbed her and tried to pull her back inside the stall. She screamed for help and two men came to her rescue.”

It appears Pacheco entered the restaurant by the side door next to the restrooms, Robertson said.

Pacheco, 26, was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape.
