Prep Report: Indians even up record in final tuneup for MEL
By Register Staff
Napa High’s baseball team got its bats going and received a top-notch performance from starting hurler Chad Albrecht, who led the Indians to a 14-5 road win over Placer-Auburn on Friday afternoon.
Napa (4-4 overall) nailed 18 hits and was errorless in the field.
Albrecht threw five innings and allowed four runs off five hits with six strikeouts. Thomas Fatherree pitched the sixth and didn’t allow any hits, and Jason Hagan closed out the Hillmen by allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts in the seventh.
Jason Westerberg was solid at the plate with a 4-for-4 outing that included a double and a home run. He also knocked in five runs. Nick Placone was 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs while Robbie Steen and Ryan Kostecka were also 3-for-5, with Steen adding a stolen base. Albrect was stellar offensively as well, coming up with a single and double and three RBIs.
“The boys played real well,” Napa head coach Todd Pridy said. “And we’re excited about heading into league.”
The Indians visit Wood to start Monticello Empire League play at 4 p.m. Monday.
