Health fair for seniors
By NATALIE HOFFMAN , Register Staff Writer
The Napa Senior Center, 1500 Jefferson St., will host a free health fair Monday, 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Health screenings will be available, including cholesterol, blood pressure and body fat testing.
According to Ginny Mosher, Senior Center supervisor, the event is open to all Napa residents, but is especially useful for seniors seeking assistance or information about health and finances.
More than 50 businesses and organizations will be represented at the event. "Some of the organizations are health-related, some offer financial advice, and others will offer information about equipment such as safety bars. We're trying to cover the whole gambit of services seniors can use," she said.
Mosher said representatives from the Napa County Fire Department will attend the health fair to distribute information about home safety.
In addition to offering health screenings and informative materials for seniors, Mosher said the event will provide information about senior support meetings, exercise and educational groups, home care agencies and more.
Mosher said the health fair is sponsored by Queen of the Valley Hospital, Aegis and the city of Napa.
"To remain healthy, you try to look at the whole system -- emotionally, socially and intellectually, and the resources that can help you remain independent," she said.
