Noel and Mary (Yarbrough) Hayes of Napa celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 11 with family at a dinner party at Rings Restaurant at Embassy Suites in Napa. Four generations were able to be present around the table with candlelight, white roses with gold ribbons and crystal.

The couple was married Jan. 11, 1957, in Modesto and moved to Napa in 1969.
Mary enjoys relationships and activities with family, home and church. She makes every day beautiful and makes celebrations a treasure. She attends Faith Presbyterian Church in Sonoma. In November of 1996, she retired after more than 23 years of service from the Veterans Home of California at Yountville. She was a residential care unit leader.

Noel transferred from Modesto State Hospital to work at Napa State Hospital and retired as a psychiatric technician II with 35 years of service caring for the mentally ill. He retired in 1992. For many years, he fished famously in Napa and the Bay Area and, after retirement, went “to work,” as he calls it, golfing regularly. He is a member of Sons in Retirement (SIRS), a retired men’s club.
They have three children: Julie and (David) Bash reside in Napa, Russell Hayes resides in Napa and Denise (Manuel) Guerrero resides in El Paso, Texas. The also have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
