LAKEPORT — The Justin-Siena High School wrestling team captured the North Coast Section Class A Dual Team championship on Saturday at Clear Lake High.

The Braves defeated Clear Lake 54-29 in the first round, Marin County Athletic League rival Marin Catholic 42-32 in the semifinals and St. Helena 36-35 in the finals.
“Going undefeated in league and winning the MCAL championship were spectacular achievements for this team, but this was beyond our dreams,” Justin-Siena coach Roger Bubel said. “To defeat a team of St. Helena’s quality is huge for our program and was a complete team effort.”

St. Helena advanced to the final by routing John Swett 64-18 in the first round and defeating Willits 45-33 in the semifinals.

" st helena is getting weaker and weaker in sport the ad needs to do something about it. i'm alumni and it is ashame how bad st. helena is at sports. when i was there we won. kid community need to step it up. this is on the coaches, the parents and kids in community. NCL is a joke we use to be in SCAL, team like Vaden, Dixon, St. Pats. st helena just lost the best coach they have had in a long time. st helena better find somebody who is halfway decent coach, because nobody wants a repeat of early 2000. " St. Helena Wrestling has won 9 league titles and 2 section title in the past 10 years. They have won the past 2 King of the Valley Championships. They lost a close match on Saturday without 2 of their best wrestlers in the line up. So i would say that their program is in good hands. "
