LOS ANGELES — There was little punch from a weekend Pacific storm system that rolled ashore and left less than an inch of rain across parched Southern California.

The National Weather Service has forecast up to two inches of rain by dawn Sunday, prompting warnings of mud and debris flows in burn areas of Ventura and Los Angeles counties scorched by wildfires last year.
Rainfall amounts during the 24-hour period ending at 10:30 a.m. included 0.82 of an inch in San Gabriel, 0.81 at Santa Barbara Airport, 0.65 in Morro Bay, 0.58 in Paso Robles, 0.48 in Santa Maria and 0.42 in downtown Los Angeles.

There was only a 20 percent chance of more rain on Monday and increasing to 30 percent Monday night and Tuesday.
The storm was drawing subtropical moisture so the snow level only dropped to about 6,500 feet.

The weather service posted a high surf advisory through 9 a.m. Monday because of breakers up to nine feet with dangerous rip currents. The surf was expected to decrease Monday.
Scattered power outages were reported by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, including Silver Lake where about 4,200 customers lost power during various times Sunday morning, DWP spokeswoman Marie Lemelle said. Downed power lines were blamed for the outages.

There were other brief outages in South Los Angeles that affected about 5,400 customers, and about 1,700 Mar Vista customers suffered power outages./AP
