Valentine’s Day events in the valley

Here are a few of the Valentine’s Day-related events in Napa Valley:
• Paul Wagner of Balzac Communications speaks on “Wine and Romance” tonight at 7 at Mumm Cuvee Napa, 8445 Silverado Trail, Rutherford. The event is sponsored by WineSpirit. Info, 261-8716.
• Raymond Vineyards is holding a cabernet and chocolate tasting, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the winery, 849 Zinfandel Lane, St. Helena. Featured will be Raymond’s 2003 cabernet sauvignon, along with a sneak preview of the soon-to-be-released 2003 Generations cabernet sauvignon. Cost is $20 for wine club members, $30 to the general public. Info, (800) 963-3141, ext. 653.
• Terra Valentine holds its Valentine’s celebration Saturday, 2-6 p.m. at the winery, 3787 Spring Mountain Road, St. Helena. The event features Greek and Roman foods paired with Terra Valentine’s wines. Cost is $45 per person, $80 for couples. Info, 967-8340.
• Grgich Hills Cellar has scheduled a Perfect Pairs Tasting on Wednesday to bring together 2004 Grgich Hills chardonnay with Gruyere de Comte cheese, and 2002 cabernet sauvignon with cabernet-filled chocolate. The $10 fee includes a Grgich Hills 30th anniversary souvenir glass. The winery is at 1829 St. Helena Highway, Rutherford. Info, 963-2784.
• Summers Estate Wines holds its Cabernet & Chocolate Pairing event on Feb. 17 and 18. A rose will be presented to ladies who attend. The $12 fee is waived for wine club members and those who purchase a case of wine during the event. Info, call Beth at 942-5508, ext. 202.
• Rocca Family Vineyards is offering chocolate-covered wine bottles — just “unwrap” the chocolate from the bottle, open it and sip the wine and munch the chocolate. It comes with 2003 cabernet sauvignon at $75, or 2004 Bad Boy, a red wine blend. Info, 257-8467.
• Beringer is pairing Port and chocolate at special tastings Saturday and Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tasting fee is $10. Beringer is at 200 Main St., St. Helena.
• Three Napa Valley wineries are participating in a tasting sponsored by PS: I Love You, an organization of petite sirah producers, scheduled for today, 5-8 p.m. at Rosenblum Cellars, 2900 Main St., Alameda. Judd’s Hill, Markham Vineyards and Robert Biale Vineyards will pour their wines, along with nearly two dozen other wineries, and the wines will be paired with foods from top restaurants.
