Friends and family gathered for a vigil Wednesday evening in memory of former Vintage High School student Anthony Gee, who died after being shot in the head at a party Jan. 27 in American Canyon.

The 16-year-old, who grew up in Calistoga and moved from American Canyon to Fairfield a few months ago, was shot by an uninvited party-goer in the garage of a home on the 100 block of Independence Drive. No arrests have been made in connection with the killing.
The Fairfield High School student was buried Feb. 3.

On Wednesday, Anthony’s mother, Kathy Gee of Fairfield, told the more than 90 teens gathered at American Canyon’s Community Center to love each other at all times and live in peace and harmony.
“Recognize the gift of love that you have for each other,” Kathy Gee said before leading the teens outside for a short candlelight vigil and a prayer in her son’s memory.

A white dove Kathy Gee held during the short prayer will be released once the weather improves.
A group of Vintage students collected $60 to organize the celebration of life.

“I thought it’d be nice for the family,” said 17-year-old Raasha Hammoudeh, who helped organize the gathering.

The teens signed posters in memory of Anthony, who loved poetry and hoped to become a major league baseball player.

James Nicolis, 17, sang a rap song, “Mercy, Mercy,” he said he wrote two months ago.

“Please Lord help me carry this load even though my body’s weary,” Nicolis sang. His parents and schoolmates listened as they sat on folding chairs.

Angeline Khoo, 15, came with a group of friends. She did not know Anthony, she said, as she sat quietly. “I just came here to pay my respects.”
