The dangers of electropollution

It is an invisible danger that has no sound or smell but is creating chaos with all of our cells. In less than two decades, one third of the global village has embraced this new technology, spawning the multi-million dollar wireless communications industry. From cell phones to hot spots to entire wireless cities, rarely has a technology so rapidly and so profoundly transformed the world. The explosion of wireless technology has brought with it a totally new form of dangerous radiation called electropollution. Humanity is now exposed to more than 100 million times more radiation than just two decades ago.

The 100 trillion cells of the body communicate with each other by subtle low electromagnetic signals as well as through chemical reactions. Continuous exposure to electromagnetic radiation can drastically distort and disrupt these cellular communications pathways, resulting in abnormal cellular metabolism and eventually disease. Electropollution profoundly compromises the normal intercellular communication of the body. Cell function deteriorates, cell membranes harden, causing a shutdown of the cells. Now nutrients cannot get in and toxins cannot get out. Over time this leads to toxin and free radical buildup, genetic mutation, premature aging, illness and disease.
So picture this... it’s a typical morning in a Starbucks equipped with wireless Internet. You see three people involved in cell phone conversations, one sending a text message from a PDA and two surfing the Internet on laptops. Each device is transmitting to the antenna installed in the back of the store, which in turn is transmitting out. At each point the signal gets an electronic push from the device to get it going. This push, like a boat being accelerated through water, creates a wake called a near-field plume. This plume is sending out lots of radiation. Homes, wireless offices, schools, hospitals and most every workplace are now filled with cell phones, laptops, wireless networks, game stations, iPods. With the increasing world of wireless technology our world is now being blanketed with a dense fog of plumes and beams. As we work, learn, sleep and play in these environments and whether we personally use these gadgets or not, our cells are being bombarded and our cellular function is being compromised.

The most vulnerable are the children. Their cells are still growing and are filled with more fluid, thus the radiation can penetrate much faster into their cells. Disney got in the game big time recently with offers of family plans and a kid starter plans targeted to 8-to-12 year-olds. An 8-year-old child who gets a cell phone will by age 28 have used a cell phone for longer than anyone to date. Consider this: In 1970, one out of 10,000 children were diagnosed with autism. Last year, one in 166 children were diagnosed with autism. Many scientists and some doctors are now trying to get the word out that we are now starting to see genetic damage that is weakening our children’s cells, thus causing many more health challenges such as autism.
The health challenges coming from our continual exposure to electrical pollution is becoming a worldwide concern. In Europe in May, a movie is coming out showing the public about the health problems that are increasing every day with the increasing use of the electronic and wireless age, and will be here in the U.S. at the end of summer. The good news is science and medicine have experience with toxic exposure and have developed a “gold standard” for dealing with these types of problems called the public health paradigm. The paradigm always encompasses primary, secondary and tertiary interventions. Primary addresses the cause of the problem and is best accomplished by reducing or canceling out exposure. Secondary deals with the symptoms of the problem, of which the most significant is disrupted intercellular communication. Tertiary deals with stopping the problem and keeping the symptoms from coming back.

There will be a talk about this enormous problem that is affecting everyone on planet earth on Feb. 8 at the Elks Lodge at 7 p.m. Please join us and bring your questions.

" Long live junk science! I have followed the debate over electromagnetic fields from power lines and emissions from cell phones for several years, and I do not know of a definitive study that exists. Yet we need to attend a "talk" about this "enormous problem"? Oh, wait, they must must be on to something because there is a movie coming out about it. They wouldn't make a movie if this wasn't a real problem, right? (And before someone accuses me of being a paid lackey for the wireless companies or Starbucks or somebody, I'm not. I live right here in Napa and have learned to be profoundly skeptical of all the sky-is-falling panic people.) "

" Wake up people! Anyone who dismisses this as 'junk science' hasn't done their homework - there are hundreds of studies that point to troublesome connections between cell phones and serious health effects. The real 'junk science' exists in the press releases distributed by the cellular industry that claim that there is "no risk" from wireless technology. It's very easy for the industry to 'buy' research studies that tell the public what the industry wants them to hear. In addition, here are documents waiting to be filed in federal court in several class-action lawsuits against the industry that prove that even the cellular industry knew 10 years ago that cell phones were harmful and have been covering it up ever since then. If you believe them, I've a got a great deal on some asbestos insulation for your home. Did you realize that they continued to market asbestos for over 50 years after it was medically proven to be deadly? "

" Actually, the San Francisco Chronicle has reported on this topic several times over the years. Marin County, one of the most affluent and health-conscious communities in the world, also has the world's highest rate of breast cancer; residents suspect the proliferation of radar, wireless transmission towers and cellphones and electronic gadgetry to be the culprit. "

" It certainly is correct that there is no conclusive scientific evidence, nor a definitive study to declare once and for always the affects -- if any on human beings -- of increasing perturbation of the electromagnetic spectrum. It is also true that the ingestion of cigarettes, according to the laws of the land, has yet to be declared conclusively -- the smoking gun if you will -- for lung cancer and other related human health woes. After all, you must prove in the Court what _part_ of smoking causes cancer. This is what's been lobbed back and forth in the Courts for over four decades. The United Kingdom has seen fit to invoked the 'precautionary principle' regarding the use of 'mobile' phones by teenagers; if you're under sixteen, you cannot own a cellphone -- legally -- in Britain. Here in North America, we've been making up the rules as we go along with regard to 'loading' and 'dose'. The truth is we do not _scientifically_ know nor have conclusive metrics which declares what goes on at the cellular level as more and more and more of the EM spectrum is perturbated. We also do not know _scientifically_ nor _conclusively_ the precise relationship between cellular signaling in the human central nervous system and the role of the geomagnetic field in synchronizing, recruiting and aggregating neurons. Finally, the moment we add more EM traffic via new technology into the immediate environment, the baseline for any authoritative _scientific_ study changes - arguments one way or the other become invalid. We're flying by the seat of our pants. Watch for the outliers... "

" How about showing us just ONE study that 'proves' that cellphones are safe? Because there are none! When the industry was forced to create a research study back in 1993, they spent 6 years and $28.5 million dollars to 'prove' that cell phones were safe, then had to cover up the findings because they showed otherwise. The man who ran the study, Dr. George Carlo, is still out there, spreading the word about the deception that the industry maintains. Go to www.safewireless.org to read what he has to say before you dismiss this. "

stan wrote on Feb 6, 2007 7:32 PM:

" That's a great observation. The level of background electromagnetic radiation is increasing so rapidly that the research can't keep up. A registry that tracks health complaints regarding wireless technology now recieves more reports from people suffering such effects from something other than using a cell phone. Common Sense wrote on Feb 6, 2007 9:43 PM:

" Smoking is in fact cancer causing. Naturally occurring polonium-210 (radioactive) is absorbed by tobacco plants, which then get converted to cigarettes. When you smoke, the Po-210 is ingested in to the lungs, where decays by emitting very energetic and damaging alpha particles (ionizing radiation) which destroy DNA in your lungs. Cell phones and power lines, on the other hand, emit non-ionizing radiation, which don't destroy any biological matter, and are therefore harmless. That's why this is junk science. "

stan wrote on Feb 7, 2007 6:25 AM:

" Common Sense needs to go back and do some more research. As long as man-made, non-ionizing radiation has been around, it was presumed to be harmless because it did not heat biological tissue. Cell phones were never pre-market tested because of this (outdated) thinking. Recent research has shown that this is not the mechanism that causes the genetic damage to the brain. As Dr. Carlo describes it, “The mechanism (of damage) is not dependent on intensity, The mechanism is dependent on the type of radio wave that carries the information. THERE IS NO SAFE LEVEL. We have not identified any level that will not trigger that (harmful) response by the cell mechanism.” By the time this was discovered, there were over 100 million cell phones in use in the USA. The industry has no choice but to deny, deny, deny, or face being found negligent in court. They no longer have insurance to cover damage claims from health effects because no insurance carrier is willing to cover them. Dr. Carlo goes on to predict an epidemic of brain tumors for the next 5-10 years. I'm protecting myself now. "

Common Sense wrote on Feb 8, 2007 12:38 AM:

" Dr. George Carlo does not have great credentials as a scientist (though he does have quite a background as a lawyer and journalist). Besides, Stan, you could easily calculate the power transmitted by the antenna and determine how much heat is deposited in nearby water-based tissue. However, since you buy in to junk science, I'm guessing you don't have the math skills to do this, so I'll help you out: IT IS NEGLIGIBLE. You should be more concerned about sunlight, which actually IS dangerous. "

Rocco wrote on Feb 8, 2007 12:23 PM:

" Marin residents don't blame radio waves, nor the higher ammounts of artisanal cheeses and white wine that that population consumes reletive to the national or statewide average. " Any chance this writer was encouraged by pharma to tie electromagnetic pollution to the autism epidemic? The problem is, the autism epidemic started in 1994, EXACTLy when newborn infants started to be given Hep B with an adult-dangerous does of mercury and it continued to rise as the number of shots given infants continued to rise. And it matches EXACTLY with that schedule. At that time, I don't know of anyone useing wirelss networks. And cell phones were quite rare. Perhaps this is a cofactor to the various things that have to go wrong so that a child can't handle vaccines and similar stresses, but there is no way it is the cause. Not to say it isn't something to study for other health issues. "

Lisa wrote on Feb 12, 2007 8:31 AM:

" I hate when people shoot down a theory simply because it is NOT related to vaccines. Many highly respected researchers today think that autism may not be one single disorder derived from one single cause--but rather several disorders with similar symptoms, possibly triggered by different precursors. I believe parents who say their child's behavior changed immediately after being vaccinated. But my child had symptoms BEFORE being vaccinated--so please don't dismiss research into OTHER possible causes! "

Patsy wrote on Feb 12, 2007 11:55 AM:

" The only thing I do know is that autism has been increasing exponentially. having been in special education for 27 years, i feel I have some knowledge on this new prevalence. Yes, 27 years ago we were well aware of autism and I was diagnosing children at that time. Now, I just want to know what the cause(s) is to cause this increase. Environmental, lifestyle changes, recreational drugs, vaccinations, who knows? But I think we better get on top of it. "

Autism wrote on Feb 12, 2007 5:26 PM:

" For the amount of autistic people recently reported, as exiting in the U.S. population, every one must be aware of at least one or two individuals if not related to an autistic person. That’s a much more serious topic than tin foil hats, radon in the soil of Marin or cell phones. Could it have any thing to do with the way we keep statistics or the fact that we allow them to live instead of hiding them away and ignoring them or starving them as in the old days. There was a time we would simply expose them to the elements, leave them on a rock along with hydrocephalic children. Forget the cell phone theory, are the figures for Autism accurate? "

autismvlog.com wrote on Feb 13, 2007 4:35 PM:

" As the mother of a child with Autism (described more accurately as Neurooxin Induced Chronic Encephalopathy) this is very personal. As far as the autism rates...the best judgement of this was when a journalist interviewed teachers that had been in service for decades. They were asked their opinions on children's health & behavior. The surprise wasn't that they thought the increased numbers of Autism were accurate but that they felt it was rare to find "neurotypical" TRULY HEALTYHY kids any more!!!!! I don't know where this article is now...but bottom line: Our children are sick more than they are healthy. Our children are the first generation of kids predicted not to have a longer lifespan than us (parents). This shift has never happened before & is based on the frequency of childhood illness today compared to our childhood. EMF is a contributory factor ESPECIALLY in the vulnerarble children. It exacerbates neurotoxin exposure. I wrote this newsletter to provide answers to anyone concerned about EMF & what you can ACTUALLY DO!!! Dana Gorman AutismVlog.com "

" Whether or not the concerns expressed re EMFs, cell phones etc, are valid or junk science, would be nice to know..sooner, if not later. The anticipation of a scientific presentation that would address this issue was the incentive for attending the talk at the Elks Club on Feb 8. What my boyfriend and I found that evening was a nice group of well meaning people passing around sign up sheets and literature for BIOPRO. A Powerpoint presentation and a few comments by the presenter reiterated information provided in the brochure, but did not constitute scientific data. Since scientific discussion did not appear to be on the agenda, we left. It appears that BIOPRO sells devices and products that mitigate the effects of electropollution. While we applaud entreprenurial effort, if someone is going to use a public forum to announce a lecture, the fact that the presentation will include multi-level marketing material should be disclosed. " autismvlog.com makes a very good point - I'd love to find that study by teacher also. the current generation is the first that's been exposed 24/7 to cell phones, cell towers, wi-fi etc and so many other electric devices. This is a truly shocking thought that the age expectancy is going down...the other question in my mind is how many people are being affected in ways that reduce their ability to enjoy the life they have as well?
I see an article able from truthiness about being tricked into a biopro presentation....I agree sales should be upfront and say - hey we'll give you some info, but gee we want to sell you too.
I'm getting off point, this is all just such a multi-faceted issue, with a lot of points of view. I am amazed by the people who continue to believe cell phones and technology is safe just because our government still says so. Gosh I'm just not willing to take that chance, how many times have we been told that about other things - only to be later told it's killing us. Here's some of the research I've done recently on the subject of how we're being affected. http://www.scribd.com/doc/15703516/Millions-Affected-by-the-Mysterious-Symptoms-of-a-Silent-Epidemic We can't all move to a mountain top - but we can do what we can to protect ourselves. Limit use of cell phones and other technology, get a product that Shields and strengthens your energy field (yes, yes, I know it all sounds crazy, but is it any crazier than the fact that invisible waves carry sounds and pictures and messages around the world - what's "junk science" today, frequently becomes standard knowledge within a decade. Personally I'm not going to take that chance and I'm not giving up my computer, wi-fi or cell phone. Carolyn "
