Nicholas John Lewis wanted his car back so bad that he ended up going to jail, charged with two felonies.
Around 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Lewis entered an auto salvage business in the 2700 block of Green Island Road in American Canyon. He thought his car had been towed from his Vallejo residence to the tow yard, Napa County Sheriff’s Lt. Jean Donaldson said.
An employee told Lewis his car wasn’t there. Lewis became agitated, Donaldson said. “The employee tried to call her boss on a cell phone, which Lewis took away from her.”
Donaldson said Lewis then brandished a knife at the employee and two co-workers.
Lewis fled the scene on foot. Police called in the California Highway Patrol helicopter to search for the suspect, who was found a few minutes later on the banks of the Napa River on Green Island Road, Donaldson said.
Lewis, 26, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault with deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
