YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK — Visitors to Yosemite can make campsite reservations on a Web site that offers one-stop shopping for several federal and state parks across the country.

The national park is changing private companies that run its reservation system in an attempt to make it easier to secure a place to pitch your tent or park your camper.
The National Recreation Reservation Service can take individual and group reservations up to five months in advance for about 1,000 of Yosemite’s campsites through a more comprehensive online and phone system, said Adrienne Freeman, spokeswoman for the park. The service also handles reservations for Yellowstone National Park and Alcatraz Island.

The new service begins Feb. 7. and reservations made under the old system will be transferred.
The park will no longer take reservations through the mail, or accept personal checks or money orders for advance reservations.

All payments must be made by credit card when visitors reserve sites online or by calling (877) 444-6777.
