Joseph Anthony Schmitz and Sara Dawn Kvidahl were married the evening of June 24, 2006, at St. Helena Catholic Church.

The maids of honor were Sara's lifetime best pals, Carrie Gregory and Melanie Sampson; her bridesmaids were cousins Amanda Collinson, Tasha Rippin, Katie Hawes and childhood friends Julia Simone and Michelle Francis. Carly Schmitz, the groom's sister, served as a junior bridesmaid and Sara's cousin, Alex Arriola, was the flower girl.
Joey was surrounded by his family and friends with David Schwarze and Michael Savage standing beside him as best men and Robert Mace and Chad Wildman as groomsmen, along with brothers Peter Schmitz, Patrick Schmitz and Matthew Schmitz. Joey's cousin, Ryan Songey, and the bride's nephew, Erik Kvidahl, were the ring bearers.

The reception was held at the St. Helena Catholic Hall with an amazing life-size ice sculpture replica of the couple standing at the entrance. The world-renowned Troy Gittings served as deejay. Joey and Sara honeymooned in exotic Bakersfield.
Joey is a history teacher at Vintage High School and Sara is a sixth-grade teacher at Harvest Middle School; the pair make their home in Napa.
