The public is invited to attend a meeting of the Napa Valley College Viticultural and Winery Technology advisory committee on Friday, to discuss the current and future activities of the department.

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Ag Lab on Streblow Drive at Roy Patrick Drive on the college campus.
Michele Rolland, noted French wine consultant, has signed to consult with Alpha Omega Winery in Rutherford. He will work with winemaker Jean Hoefliger in crafting the 2006 vintages of sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and Alpha Omega’s proprietary red wine, including developing the winemaking strategy and creating the blends.

The Carneros Wine Alliance will provide funding for the California Irrigation Management Information System, which had been in danger of being shut down for lack of funding. The system is a statewide network of 120 weather stations that aid in irrigation management and are connected daily to a central computer to download weather data at 15-minute intervals.
It’s the most valuable tool of its kind unless a winery or grower has its own weather station, said Dave Steiner, of the Napa County Resource Conservation District.

Craig Moore has joined Langtry Estate & Vineyards in Lake County as national sales manager. He’s a 24-year wine industry veteran with experience in working with such brands as Havens, Big Horn Ranch and Kirkland Ranch, and had also been associated with Parducci Wine Cellars and Chateau St. Jean.
Wilson Daniels Ltd. of St. Helena is conducting its Community Food Drive to benefit the St. Helena Community Food Pantry, and donations are being accepted at the Wilson Daniels offices, 1201 Dowdell Lane, until Tuesday. Collection bins to receive food donations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The company also is donating $600 to the St. Helena Community Food Pantry and is making $700 contributions to the Napa Valley Food bank and Calistoga Cares.
