Napa Valley Swim Team chalks up lifetime bests at Junior Olympics meet

The Napa Valley Swim Team recently sent nine age group swimmers to compete in Pacific Swimming’s Junior Olympics. The three-day meet was held at Oceana High School in Pacifica. There were more than 800 swimmers in attendance.
Swimming in the 11-12 age group, Megan Morris and Ximena Mendieta turned in outstanding performances.
Morris earned new “AA” times in the 200 individual medley (2:30.68), 200 free (2:12.65) and 100 back (1:11.39). Morris turned in six lifetime best swims over the weekend. Mendieta placed fifth in the 1,650 free, dropping 58 seconds for a time of 20:22.86, earning a new “AA” in the event. Mendieta also earned a new “A” time in the 200 IM (2:34.70) and earned 100 percent best times.
Swimming in her first Junior Olympics was Erica Facey. Facey swam to a lifetime best in the 50 back (33.60).
Also competing in the 11-12 age group were Olivia Husted and Elise Roberts.
Swimming in the boys 11-2 age group was Seth Anderson. Anderson earned a new “A” time in the 200 free (2:16.47) and earned five lifetime-best swims.
Swimming in the 13-14 girls age group was Alli Channels. Channels earned two lifetime-best swims in the 200 back (2:22.81) and 200 IM (2:25.25).
On the boys side, McCoy Ayers competed in his first Junior Olympics. Ayers earned a best time in the 100 free (55:60).
The youngest member of the squad was 9-year-old Colby Gibbs. Gibbs earned a new “A” time in the 200 free (2:30.39) and swam to lifetime bests in four of his five entered events.
