Cynthia Sue Hamby and Matthew Eugene Eckert, both of Port Orford, Ore., married on Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Berkeley Marina. Cindi and Matt were married by the captain on the bow of the Commodore Hornblower yacht, surrounded by 40 family members and close friends. After the ceremony, a reception, luncheon and dancing were held on the yacht as it cruised the calm waters of San Francisco Bay.

Jim and Maureen, the groom's parents, participated in the wedding ceremony with Jim reading from scripture and Maureen reading a letter she wrote to Matt when he was 22 months old. Helen Kurilla, Matt's grandmother, presented Cindi and Matt with a handmade wedding quilt which incorporated photos of their lives.
The reception was held on the Commodore Hornblower yacht on San Francisco Bay. The couple will honeymoon on the Mendocino Coast and will make their new home at Port Orford, Ore.

The bride's parents are Claudette and Robert Kahman of Port Orford, Ore. The bride graduated from Newbury Park High School in Reno, Nev. in 1990 and received her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1994. She is the author of two novels, "Descent Into Darkness" and "Roses of Iloari." She owns Dock Tackle & Gypsy Caf in Port Orford, Ore.
The groom's parents are Maureen and Jim Eckert of Napa. His grandmother is Helen Kurilla of Napa. He graduated from Vintage High School in 1999 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems in 2003 from Humboldt State University, Arcata. He is also the owner of Dock Tackle & Gypsy Caf in Port Orford, Ore.
