Second Lt. Josh Carter of Napa received his pilot wings from the Air Force on Nov. 9. Lt. Carter graduated from the elite Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program (ENJJPT) at Sheppard AFB, Texas, where he was awarded the Order of Daedalians Commander's Trophy for the most outstanding student.

Lt. Carter graduated from UCLA and attended Justin-Siena, Robert Louis Stevenson, St. Helena Elementary School and Pope Valley Elementary School.
Lt. Carter will fly the F-16 Fighting Falcon (known to its pilots as the Viper). The F-16 is the Air Forces' single seat multi-role jet fighter, often referred to as the backbone of the modernized Air Force.

Lt. Carter is the son of Garry Carter, also of Napa./Register
