On Krug v. UFW dispute
"My dad worked at Charles Krug for 25 years until he passed last year from cancer. I can tell you growing up my dad had to picket many times for his job. There were several times I can remember seeing him on the news with his sign, standing up for what he wanted and needed. Now look who is fighting for the jobs."
"Unions don’t own companies. They don’t put up the investment, they don’t steer the company. They are not responsible for the success of the company. I support Krug. If the unions want to run a business, let them form a company and see what it’s like."
On downtown hotel construction
"Do we really need more hotels and inns in Napa? I think it is becoming very very over crowded. I am thinking about moving out of Napa because it is so packed with people."
On fluoride in Napa drinking water
"I agree that adding fluoride to the water is a good intention, but the facts do not work out. Besides, it is never a good idea to use the water as a means to medicate the public."
On Wal-Mart construction halt
"Finally somebody in American Canyon gets it right. Maybe if more elected officials took the office to which they were elected seriously our country wouldn’t be in such a state. As a resident of American Canyon I am glad to see Ms. Coffey standing up for what is right and protecting all of the residents. Contrary to what a few may believe."
On Michael Posey’s murder conviction
"Jurors, can you say positively, for sure, absolutely, without one doubt, 100%, that Michael Posey planned and murdered Elizabeth Posey? I’d also like to know what you think his motive was because I’ve never figured that one out either."
On William Morin performance
"The sixties revisited with a fresh, crisp tone spiced with a hint of Bossa made the evening old and new at the same time. The performance was lively, engaging and energetic. It is a shame that it was not taped so that it could be shared with today’s masses that want to re-capture peace and love in today’s world. Great voice + great musicians + great show = an unforgettable night at Copia."
On potential Jamieson upgrades
"Maybe Jamieson Canyon could be a toll road so users could contribute to upgrades rather than people in Napa who only use the road about once a year."
On expanding the county transportation planning agency
"You’ve got to be kidding me! How about they accomplish the tasks their already charged with before we go expanding the bureaucracy. It’s nice to see they’re spending their time finding every other thing to do than their actual job."
On Grand Jury looking at Napa trolley
"Thought topics and issues to be examined by a grand jury were confidential. This paper published an article earlier this year admonishing some for speaking about their interviews with the grand jury — so how does a future topic make front page headlines prior to seating of a new body of jurors? Seems like a way to get a head start on creating bias and pre-determination. Can’t wait to read what’s next."
