Napa man tasered after Thanksgiving squabble
By MARSHA DORGAN, Register Staff Writer
Police had to use a taser gun Thursday to subdue a Napa man who they suspected was armed with a handgun.
Napa police officers responded to a report of an argument in the 3600 block of Harkness Street. When they arrived, Curtis Wayne Baillie was driving away from the house. A person inside the residence told the officers Baillie was carrying a handgun, Napa Police Sgt. Paul Paniagua said.
Police spotted Baillie a short time later near Harkness Street. They pulled him over and he got out of the car, Paniagua said.
"However he would not comply with the officers' commands to be taken into custody. Not knowing whether he was armed, the officers used the taser gun to incapacitate him," Paniagua said.
He was handcuffed and taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital to be medically cleared, Paniagua said, adding once he was released from the Queen, he was taken to the Napa County jail and booked.
Police did not find Baillie to be in possession of a weapon, Paniagua said. "We did find a gun later at the (Harkness Street) residence."
Baillie, 38, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.
Tire slashings continue
Calls are still coming into Napa police dispatch of residents going out to their cars, only to find their tires have been slashed, Sgt. Paul Paniagua said.
"We have had numerous reports the past several days. And in addition, we are getting several reports of car windows being shot out with BB guns," he said.
The vandals are targeting cars parked on the street and in the driveway. "It is happening at night and it's all over town," Paniagua said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Napa police at 253-4451.
