Sophomore quarterback Sean Ryan threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead Vintage’s junior varsity football team past Napa, 50-23, and complete a perfect 10-0 season in Thursday night’s Little Big Game at Napa Memorial Stadium.

Ryan completed scoring passes of 60, 38 and 18 yards to Dom Pappas. He also connected with Brad Lloyd on a 29-yard TD strike and threw a 25-yard scoring pass to D.J. Lyke.
Ryan ran 50 yards for a touchdown to power the Crushers (10-0 overall, 5-0 Monticello Empire League), who won the league title.

They were in front 38-8 at halftime.
“It’s perfect, just like the kids,” said Vintage coach Billy Smith, who was doused with an icy water bucket on the sidelines when the rivalry game went final. “They did everything together. We had a lot of fun with these kids.”

It was Vintage’s first 10-0 season under Smith, who had a 9-1 record as coach in 1998.
Napa (6-3-1 overall, 3-2 MEL) received two touchdown passes from Steven Nagy to Michael Ruffino for 30 and 50 yards. Both 2-point conversions were clear after runs from Daniel Burgess. Harry Gorsuch rushed for a 10-yard score and Eddie Fernandez’s PAT was good.

“It was a great group of kids to coach,” Napa head coach Wayne Harbison said. “They worked hard in the offseason. They were a very dedicated group.

“We expect that will continue. We expect great things from that class.”

Mason Feudner returned an interception five yards for a Vintage touchdown and Lloyd caught five passes.

Ryan completed two-point conversion passes to Jake Callanan, Trevor McLaughlin and Lloyd. Jake Roscoe scored on a two-point conversion run.

Trevor Wright keyed the “Wolf Pack” defense, while the offensive line of Sam Campbell (center), Paul Archer and Mitch Danielson (guards), and Kyle Archer and Bryson Daniels (tackles) played very well.

" The Vintage JV Football team is so awasome this year! They are 10-0, could we please get an article on them and the great coaching staff. I know they all worked so hard and deserved to be noticed! "
