Rolling with the firefighters

Dear editor, I would like to offer a thank you to our Napa Fire Department.

In a lively presentation, a team of dedicated firefighters, coordinated by Public Education Specialist Shelly Engleman, instructed our student body on fire safety. Our students enthusiastically responded to the “drop and roll” demonstration, the dramatic turnout gear and engaging stories from the firefighters’ professional lives. The team also provided handouts, stickers and bookmarks for each child. Several teachers gave their students the assignment that evening to develop a fire safety plan with their parents. This assembly proved to be a memorable experience and I thank our city’s Fire Department for their proactive presence in our community!
