On Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, John and Jean Adamo celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the McBride Senior Center in Vacaville. They were married on Aug. 11, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church in Napa. John and Jean have lived in northern Vacaville for the past 25 years where, in their retirement, they grow jojoba on their five acre farm.

Born and raised in Napa, both John and Jean attended Napa High School where they started going steady in their sophomore year. They graduated together in 1953. Jean excelled in music and to this day she still plays flute and piccolo in the Walnut Creek Band and the North Bay Wind Ensemble in Napa.
John lettered in football, baseball and basketball and went on to Santa Clara University on a baseball scholarship. After marrying in 1956, they lived in Santa Clara where John completed his bachelor's degree in economics and philosophy. After college, John and Jean and John's twin sister Carol, owned and operated the Adamo Music Centers of Napa and Vallejo from 1958 to 1968. They then both went back to college, Jean earning a registered nurse degree and John a teaching credential and a master's degree in psychology. As an RN and IV therapist, Jean worked at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa for 18 years, then at Vaca Valley and Woodland Memorial hospitals. John taught and counseled for two years at St. Vincent High School in Vallejo.

The couple's children, Lynn Adamo Faber of Hillsboro, Ore., and Chris Adamo of Medway, Mass., hosted the celebration. Bob Pellant, John's college roommate, gave a brilliant Champagne toast, which was both humorous and touching. Son-in-law Bob Faber and grandson, Mark Adamo, also helped organize the special event while Bill Brenton's Valley Brass Quintet provided great music. Friend and professional photographer, Tom Fraley of Berdon Photography took pictures.
Two members of the 1956 wedding party were there; Margaret Devers, Jean's sister who was matron of honor and Carol Adamo Johnson, John's sister who was a bridesmaid.
