" I have attended two very different presentations on the school bond; both by promoters of this bond. What is disconcerning is the admission that there has never been long range planning before now. What have they been doing? No alternatives have been considered to handle the alleged future over-flow, What about returning the 9th graders to middle school and the 6th grades to the elementary schools as the population wave passes through? What about changing the class structure so the kids have science two days a week for longer period - then twice the number can take the course, split into alternate days - no more 'overcrowding'. What about the tartan tracks which have a life of 8 years and much higher maintenance costs, such that in their 8 year life span we will expend $4 million. Why is that necessary. I saw the photo of the Silverado track in water in March - so what. It rains in March. Maybe the drainage system could be improved in those sections? What is the basis for the school district's change of opinion that modular rooms are now bad - they used to be good. Lastly, how are they going to pay for the upkeep on the proposed Am. Canyon school - they don't keep up with the basic needs of Napa and Vintage high schools - which are far less elegant. Perhaps to cut down on the traffic the kids could attend high school in Vallejo? It is much closer. "
