Unitarians to explore meaning of mental illness and health

For Sunday’s service, Rev. Bonnie Dlott of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of North Bay has titled her sermon “In the Shadow of Our Wings.” In any given year, she said, “almost one-fourth of our members will suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder, although you probably won’t know about it.”
The Fellowship meets at 11 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Napa Valley, 1515 W. Pueblo Ave., Napa. Visitors are welcome and child care is provided.

Unity Church
Unity Church’s “Stories of Discovery” series continues as Dr. Richard Southern speaks at the 10 a.m. Sunday service on “Discover a New View of God: The Story of Paradigms.” At the 11:30 forum, Lorry Rocka facilitates the “Miracle Connection,” featuring original songs set to popular tunes. Napa Valley Center for Spiritual Living

“Stories of Wind,” featuring Ash Dargan, Australia’s premier didgeridoo performer, will be presented at Napa Valley Center For Spiritual Living, 1249 Coombs St., Napa, at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Cornerstone Ministries

Cornerstone Ministries is celebrating its 15th anniversary on Sunday. Come to Skyline Park at 11 a.m. Pastor Bill Walden will share a message and Roby Duke will be sharing music, with a potluck picnic to follow. Hamburgers, hot dogs and buns will be provided. National Day of Healing

The Church of Napa and Napa Arise/Healing Rooms of the Napa Valley are providing sites of prayer for all who need healing spiritually, physically, emotionally or relationally. Pacific Union College Seventh-day Adventist Church

Grace Church of Napa Valley Harvest Festival

Napa First Presbyterian Church

The history and development of Christianity will be the topic of discussion during a six-week video lecture series at the Napa First Presbyterian Church little chapel. The series is held Wednesdays through Nov. 15 from 6:45 to 9 p.m. Enter at Third and Randolph streets. There is no charge.

The lecturer is Dr. Luke Timothy Johnson, professor of New Testament and Christian origins, Emory University. He has many published books and articles and has received several awards for his teaching excellence.

Celebrate Recovery

A Christian-based program called “Celebrate Recovery” addresses hurts, habits, hang-ups and addictions; the purpose is to use God’s healing power. Celebrate Recovery helps develop spiritual maturity, and is a one year-long program. Cost is $60 and the group meets at Foothill Christian Fellowship, 2898 Laurel St., Napa, on Fridays. Classes begin at Napa Valley Lutheran Church

Our class, “Listening for God,” explores spiritual issues through the lens of modern literature and meets on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. The second class, “Living the Marks of Discipleship,” is offered on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. and explores the Christian lifestyle. Napa-based missionaries return home 

Global Passion Ministries (GPM) finished another busy summer taking 450 young people into 11 countries. They shared the gospel of Jesus Christ and took in construction and medical teams. Supplies, clothing, medicines and much more were distributed.
