Mozart’s “Oboe Concerto in C major,”  is the featured work in the North Bay Philharmonic Orchestra fall concert Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Napa Valley College Theater. Oboe virtuoso Brenda Schuman-Post is the soloist.

Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 6 in F major,” (“The Pastoral”) and Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony in B minor”  are also on the program, conducted by Roberto-Juan González, music director.
Schuman-Post is a prominent freelance orchestral, chamber, studio recording artist and private teacher in the Bay Area. She has also played more than 300 recitals with her offbeat oboe/piano/accordion duo Classical Trash. She performs with the Solar Systers, performing pre-warp classics to interplanetary fusion.

She presents entertaining educational master classes and lecture-performances and has taught throughout the U.S., Europe, Indonesia, and Central America.
In 2003, Schuman-Post won the Star Trek Idol Talent Search by composing and performing “Fantasy on Themes From Star Trek” for solo oboe. She has since mingled with the “stars” at Star Trek and science fiction conventions. She has built a career on versatility, making the oboe and its music accessible.

Admission is $12 general; $10 students and seniors and Napa Valley College staff; $7 children under 12. Tickets are available at the Napa Valley College Cashier’s Office. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
