Developing Brain

Mt. George celebrates

70th anniversary

Since its founding in 1936, Mt. George School has touched the lives of Napa families and has been a constant in the community. The school will hold a special program in conjunction with its Harvest Festival on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and invites the community, particularly Mt. George alums, to attend, celebrate and reminisce. The school is putting together a collection of stories, documents and photographs to create a display. Mt. George is looking for former students, parents or teachers, and is particularly in need of information or artifacts from the 1940s through the 1960s.

Teens and healthy relationships

Voicing Our Independent Choices for Emancipation Support and Napa Emergency Women's Services have created a venue for teens to learn about healthy relationships, get support about teen dating issues and learn what constitutes intimate partner violence. Fall Prevention Program

The Napa Valley Fall Prevention Coalition is bringing together other community members and organizations representing seniors at a community summit to learn more about fall prevention models and look for solutions. Hearing Loss Association of Napa Valley

Joseph Trumbo will address the Hearing Loss Association of Napa Valley on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Napa Senior Center on "Listening and Communications Enhancement." Just as physical exercise is used to maintain strong muscles, "listening exercise" by a person who is hard of hearing can strengthen those neural pathways in the brain that are needed to understand speech. Listening and Communications Enhancement is part of the growing field of study that focuses on how the brain processes auditory signals from the ear. Prevent elder abuse and become part of the solution. Bi-National Health Week Citizenship Fair

Legal permanent residents are welcome to participate in Bi-National Health Week's Citizenship Fair on Saturday. A team of legal experts will be at the fair assisting legal permanent residents complete the U.S. citizenship application at no charge and will provide resources for required examinations. The October afternoon class series runs on Wednesdays through October at 1 p.m.

Coldwell Banker Brokers of the Valley lecture series is Wednesday and will include a Napa Valley Real Estate Report.
