When art is in the air, Mark Nizer is probably nearby

He’s cool, he’s side-splittingly funny, he’s amazing to watch — maybe the best word for Mark Nizer is quite simply an “experience.”
The award-winning comedian and juggler brings his show “When Art is in the Air” to the Napa Valley for a one-night engagement Friday at Yountville’s Lincoln Theater.
Nizer combines original comedy, juggling, movement, music and technology in a show that is witty, physically adept and “nothing less than brilliant” according to Performance Magazine.
The Massachusetts native is inventive and original — a performer who looks at the world in a different way and has created a performance that reflects the view that the impossible is possible and the improbable is probable.
His creation of new juggling tricks and technologies — like his “Laser Diabolo” system — combined with his comedic wit have set him apart from his peers. Imagine four lasers spinning at 1,000 revolutions per minute with the laser beams dancing just above the heads of the audience members, and you begin to get a feel for “When Art is in the Air.”
Whether he’s throwing five ping pong balls 20 feet in the air using only his mouth or simultaneously juggling a burning propane tank, a running electric carving knife and a 16-pound bowling ball, his show is one that needs to be seen to be believed.
Nizer has also invented a new DVD projection lighting system that lights his show with high-tech moving lights in any venue. His black light routine has audiences looking at juggling in a very different light.
Since winning the International Juggling Championships, Nizer has taken his one-man show to venues around the world, including the Kennedy Center and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. He has appeared on “Bob Hope and Other Young Comedians,” “Arsenio Hall,” “LA Law,” “Caroline’s Comedy Hour on A&E,” “Super Dave Osbourne” and “The Jerry Lewis Telethon.”
“He just keeps getting better and better and I didn’t think that was possible,” Hope said.
Appropriate for all ages, Mark Nizer’s “When Art is in the Air” begins at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater on the grounds of the Veterans Home of California in Yountville. Tickets are $15 -$30. For tickets or information, contact the Lincoln Theater Box Office at 944-1300 or go online to www.lincolntheater.org.
