Napa Police Department: A brief history

Paper Clips
Come see the award-winning film, "Paper Clips," on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Napa High School Little Theatre, 2475 Jefferson St., Napa. Meet the Schroeders, who wrote the book, "Six Million Paper Clips: The Making of a Children's Holocaust Memorial," about middle school students who were studying the Holocaust and decided to collect millions of paper clips, each representing a person killed by the Nazis. Books will be for sale. This event is free.

'The Future of Food'
On Wednesday at the Vintage High School Little Theater, 1375 Trower Ave., Napa from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Preserving the Integrity of Napa's Agriculture presents an award-winning film by Deborah Koons Garcia. Find out how crops are being genetically modified, their impact on farmers and the environment and how a few corporations are consolidating ownership over our food supply. A $5 donation is suggested at the door to purchase copies of the documentary for local libraries.

Friends of the Calistoga Library book sale

'Under the Harvest Moon'

On Friday and Saturday, St. Helena Catholic School will present its benefit wine auction, "Under the Harvest Moon." St. Helena Fire Department

Family Empowerment Series in Spanish -- A series titled "Changing the Future" is for parents of children with special needs. Symposium

Bi-National Health Fair

The health fair on Oct. 8 will provide 500 health screenings including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, eye exams, hearings, dental, mental health, heel testing for osteoporosis, glaucoma testing and anemia testing. There will be 35 community organizations distributing information, workshops by the Napa Children and Weight Coalition and more. North Bay Walk

to Cure Diabetes

On Oct. 14 at Peju and Saint Supery Vineyard and Wineries, registration is at 10 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m. This is the second annual walk for the newly formed North Bay Branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. For more information about the event, visit www.jdrf.org.

The October afternoon class series begins Wednesday and runs for four consecutive Wednesdays at 1 p.m.

Hospice of Napa Valley offers grief support groups for Napa County residents who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Napa County Chapter 281, sponsors Peddler's Faire on Saturday at the Napa Senior Center, 1500 Jefferson St., Napa. The center opens at 7 a.m. for vendors and at 9 a.m. for the public. The event is free. Tables are available for rent for $30 each by calling 328-3099. Conference
