‘Brother Can You Spare a Dime’ Giants trips wrap up Oct. 1For the 48th year, the “Brother Can You Spare a Dime” organization is once again taking groups of special and deserving youngsters, senior citizens and the general public to San Francisco Giants baseball games for the 2006 season.
The remaining 2006 schedule: Oct. 1, Los Angeles Dodgers.
The bus departs at 10:30 a.m. from Financial Plaza, at the southwest corner of Trancas Street and Big Ranch Road in Napa. Those going should plan to check in and board a half-hour before departure.
Tickets are $35, which includes round-trip motorcoach transportation, a ticket and refreshments on board the bus. Tickets are limited and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Napa Area 9th annual Golf Tournament Oct. 9The Napa Area 9th annual Golf Tournament, a benefit for the 11-99 Foundation/CAHP Widows and Orphans, is Oct. 9 at Eagles Vines Golf Club.
Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. and there’s a shotgun start of 10 a.m. The format is a four-man scramble. The $175 cost includes greens fees, cart, tee prizes, beverages, continental breakfast, lunch, and a banquet dinner, including Napa Valley wines. A corvette from Team Chevrolet is the hole-in-one prize. There are also gifts for closest-to-the-pin and longest drive.
The evening also includes live and silent auctions, golf trophies for the top three groups, and raffle prizes.

Justin-Siena basketball coaches clinic Oct. 15Justin-Siena High School will host its 2006 Basketball Coaches Clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 15 at Dan Clark Gym.
Basketball coaches of all ages and skill levels are invited. The cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt, handouts, refreshments and lunch.
Registration will be at 8:45 a.m. with introductions at 9 a.m., followed by instruction from 9:30 to noon. After lunch, instruction will continue and wrap up with a final topic that starts at 3:15 p.m.
Players will demonstrate drills and techniques.
Those interested are urged to register by Oct. 12, though walk-ups are welcome.
Scheduled speakers include:
• Braves varsity boys basketball coach Tom Bonfigli, who coached at Cardinal Newman High in Santa Rosa and has 25 years of coaching experience;
• The Branson School varsity girls coach Mike Fulton, the former head women’s coach at College of Marin and ex-girls coach at Terra Linda High;
• Scott Davis, the director and founder of Strictly Hoops Basketball Club and a former women’s head coach at Dominican College and ex-assistant at St. Mary’s College and Sacramento State;
• UC Davis women’s assistant coach Joe Teramoto, who was a women’s assistant at St. Mary’s and men’s assistant at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, and was the head girls coach at San Luis Obispo High and a junior high camp instructor;
• Justin-Siena varsity girls head coach Mike Boles, who is also the athletic director at St. Francis Solano School and has eight years of high school and 14 years of youth coaching experience.

Justin-Siena needs head baseball coachJustin-Siena High School is looking for a new varsity head baseball coach.
The baseball program has won CIF North Coast Section Class A titles in 2003, 2004 and 2005, as well as Marin County Athletic League titles in 2001, 2003 and 2004.
The Braves were MCAL and North Coast Section runner-ups in 2006, while having a 42-game win streak over three seasons broken.
Qualified candidates should have a strong baseball background as a player or coach and be capable of overseeing a program that includes junior varsity and freshman teams.
This is currently a walk-on position, with the possibility of a teaching position in the future depending on the candidate’s qualifications.

Junior golf sessions at Vintner’s Golf Club on SaturdaysThe Vintner’s Golf Club in Yountville is offering junior golf sessions every Saturday. Sessions, open to all ages and all skill levels, run from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m.
The cost is $25 per player per session.
Sessions will cover golf instruction for all skill levels, golf etiquette, general golf rules, daily contests and skills challenges.
