Purple and gold balloons, finger foods and Napa Valley wines greeted visitors to the official grand opening of the Bank of Napa on Wednesday afternoon.
About 400 people — including shareholders, guests and potential customers, enjoyed the festivities in the Redwood Plaza, which itself has undergone a facelift at the corner of Solano Avenue and Redwood Road in northwest Napa.
Bank staff helped open and serve wine to the guests, who spilled out the front door.
Representing the Napa Chamber of Commerce, 15 of its ambassadors in their burgundy jackets mingled with guests.
Don McDonel, Bank of Napa president and chief executive officer said, “We are getting calls this morning (about) how much the guests enjoyed themselves ... everyone thought it (was) first class and that the interior design was outstanding. I haven’t heard any complaints.”
Bank of Napa has been going through a soft opening since Aug. 14, working out “the bugs.”
“Our underlying message was to thank the people who have invested in our bank and supported us. We want everyone to know we are open for business,” McDonel said.
“Now we start marketing, advertising and working on bringing in new business,” McDonel added.
McDonel said he was not surprised at the turnout on Wednesday, “because of the response from selling stock. I believe we will be highly successful.”
