Alta Heights Harvest Festival

On Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m., Alta Heights Elementary School will host its Harvest Festival Carnival. The event will include a rock climbing wall, jumpy houses, carnival booths, a dessert walk, yummy food, a pumpkin pie eating contest for parents, a jack-o-lantern carving contest for families, and a scarecrow decorating contest for classrooms. We will also have Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts information booths, fingerprinting by the cadets of the police department and more.

Child care referrals

Parents in Napa County can get free child care referrals online by visiting Community Resources for Children's Web site at www.crcnapa.org and filling out and submitting a simple questionnaire. The information that is provided will generate a list of licensed facilities that best match their particular family needs. Technical assistance from referral specialists, along with a variety of printed materials, is available to assist parents in making well-informed decisions for their children. Commission on Aging

The Napa County Commission on Aging will hold its second special meeting in Calistoga at the Calistoga Community Center from 2 to 4 p.m., on Monday. Commissioner Mary Imbelloni has arranged for Calistoga City Manager Bill McCann to speak on how Calistoga is meeting the challenge of the growing senior population.

Children's health and nutrition Come to St. Apollinaris School on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to hear a presentation on the importance of developing a healthy food environment in the home. Noche Mexicana

At Napa Women's Club on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m., Noche Mexicana will focus on Latino seniors, their needs, access, and community services. The purpose of the event is to not only decrease seniors' isolation and increase their socialization into a new community, but to increase their access and use of services. Quit smoking today

Fall is an ideal time to enroll in a Quit Smoking Class through Community Action Napa Valley's Quit Smoking Program.

Meditate freely at Napa Valley Yoga

Napa Women's Club

The women of Napa Valley are invited to join the Napa Women's Club Evening Edition. The monthly meetings are filled with high energy, are lots of fun, and have a charitable component too. The next meeting is Tuesday in a historical building, 218 Franklin St. in Napa. The social networking starts at 6 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome.

Napa Toastmasters

Napa Toastmasters offers a relaxed setting where you can develop your speaking and leadership skills and become a more effective communicator. Hospice of Napa Valley offers grief support groups for community members who have experienced loss. Meetings are free. Groups ongoing for adolescents and children, Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. in American Canyon, Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. in Calistoga. Developmentally Disabled Christian Ministries
