Crusher spikers sweep Armijo; Vintage, Napa tied for second

The Vintage High School volleyball team handled Armijo 3-0 Thursday to run the Crushers’ Monticello Empire League record to 3-1.
Megan Boydston, Katie Ovando, Nicole Bickham and Jen Mehrens combined for 23 kills, while Kelsey Ryan had four aces and Jackie Delossantos gave out 14 assists in the Crushers’ 25-19, 25-15, 25-16 win.
Shantille Thompson recorded 14 digs to lead the Crushers (6-2 overall) on defense.
MEL play continues on Tuesday at Vintage with the Big Game against Napa High.
The freshmen play at 4 p.m., the JV game is at 5 and the varsity clubs square off at 6:30.
Both varsity teams have identical 3-1 records and are tied for second place in the MEL.
The Crushers’ JV team defeated Armijo 2-0. Vintage is now 4-0 and in first place in the MEL.
