Stegner
Clarence and Marilyn (Bonneau) Stegner of Napa celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 5 at the home of Chris and Lori Yoder. Family and friends gathered for an afternoon celebration in which they were entertained by the couple's granddaughter, Lindsey, singing their favorite songs from the '50s, as well as sharing many heartfelt memories of the couple's 50 years of marriage.
The Stegners married on July 28, 1956, and have resided in Napa County for 37 years. Marilyn and Clarence met on a blind date, while Clarence was serving in the U.S. Navy in San Diego. They were married at the Chapel of the Roses in Chula Vista. After a brief honeymoon in Northern California, the couple moved to Bremerton, Wash. Clarence was discharged from the service in December of 1956 and enrolled in the apprentice program at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. The couple moved to Vallejo and eventually moved to Napa in 1969. Following Clarence's retirement, the couple purchased a motorhome and travel across the country.
Marilyn enjoys reading, tending her roses, scrapbooking and being a grandmother. She is a huge Oakland A's fan! She was a secretary with the U.S. Border Patrol prior to marriage. Throughout her married life, she worked in retail and as a secretary for various agencies. She was primarily a homemaker.
Clarence loves to golf, fish and enjoys watching professional baseball and football. He was a planner and estimator at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. He retired after 30 years there.
The couple's daughter, Lori Yoder and her husband, Chris, reside in Napa. Their son, Brian Stegner and his wife, Rene, live in Petaluma. The couple has six grandchildren, Ryan and Bethany Yoder of Chicago, Ill.; Lindsey Yoder and Lilia Yoder of Napa; Brandan Stegner of Petaluma and Kristin Stegner of Petaluma. They have one great-grandchild, Dominic Stegner of Novato.
