Plans for American Canyon's first high school are coming into focus as volunteers for Measure G, Napa Valley Unified School District's $183 million school bond, are hitting the campaign trail.

The bond measure would pay for improvements to several Napa facilities, including New Tech High School, Memorial Stadium, science laboratories and more. The big ticket item in the bond is the new American Canyon high school, estimated to cost $125 million.
The new high school will relieve overcrowding at both Napa High and Vintage High schools, according to Measure G supporters. More than 1,000 teens commute from American Canyon to Vintage every day.

The school bond requires approval from 55 percent of the voters to pass.
Napa Valley Unified School District Superintendent John Glaser on Thursday said he is optimistic about the campaign./Register

" Taxpayers spend about $400,000 each year busing kids from American Canyon to Vintage. The students spend about 2 hours each school day on the bus. I'd like to see us invest their time and our money more wisely. Please vote yes on Measure G. "
