Locals participate in Masters events at Stanford

Over 7,300 participants, coaches and team representatives from 75 countries participated in the XI World FINA Masters Championships at Stanford University, Aug. 5-18.
Events included swimming, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming — 161 world records were broken in speed swimming, while 75 water polo teams played 212 games.
Among those participants were members of Healthquest and Napa Valley Masters Swim programs.
Healthquest members included John Nogue, Mike Garibaldi, Milford Hodges, Parie Lambert, Stuart Duncan, Lyn Collins, Bob Frappia, Greg Allen and Loreen Ruegg.
Napa Valley Masters members included Bob Newman, Lisa McMichael, Jenny Casciani, Greg Allen, Jacqueline Yoakum, Karen Bradley, Eric Rosburg, Jack Bertram and Jessie Hickel.
All combined to form relay teams of Mixed Medley, Men’s and Women’s Freestyle and Mixed Freestyle events.
Nogue, Garibaldi and Frappia also participated in Men’s Water Polo events, with Garibaldi’s team winning the World Championship for the Men’s 55+ Age group.
