Braves girls water polo takes season opener from Bethel

The Justin-Siena High School girls water polo team won its opening game, 14-8 over Bethel Tuesday. Caitlin Caulkin scored five goals, Katie Carmody had four goals and three steals, Rachel Whitehead had three goals, Carly Orris had five steals and a goal, Nikole D’Adamo had a goal, and Sophie Lundeberg blocked three shots.
Prep Boys Water Polo
• Bethel 17, Justin-Siena 15
Justin-Siena dropped a close, high-scoring contest to Bethel Tuesday. Tim Kopra and Ken Brewer each had five goals, David Cello and Ian Fadden each had two goals, Chris Colzani had a goal, and goal keeper Chris Bianco recorded seven saves.

• Justin-Siena opens season
Justin-Siena opened its season at the Rancho Cotate Invitational last week in Rohnert Park.
Erin Kinda completed the 2.75-mile course in 20:19 to lead the girls team. Brooke Bainum (20:35), Mary Kate Fidler (21:03), Bea Arostegui (23:29), Laura Marks (25:13) and Daniella de Laat (25:27) also competed for the Braves.
Kevin Cardey led the way for the boys team with a time of 16:46. Cardey was followed by Chris Vecera (17:29), Jon Lund (17:32), Mike Bozzini (17:32), Chris Miller (21:51) and Guillermo Hernandez-Lopez (22:46).
Prep Girls Golf
• Justin-Siena 224, San Marin 285
Kate Olen shot a 35 to earn medalist honors and Emily Talley had a 37 to lead Justin-Siena to a Marin County Athletic League win in a nine-hole match at the Vintner’s Golf Club in Yountville Thursday.
Ali Amaral (46), Andi Bernard (50), Laura Perez (56) and Jaime Picano (61) also played in the match for Justin-Siena, which has a 2-1 MCAL record.
• Vintage 309, Rodriguez 323
Nicole Bruner shot a 46 and Katherine Jena had a 47 to lead Vintage over Rodriguez in Tuesday’s nine-hole non-league match at the Vintner’s Golf Club in Yountville. Chantelle Foure (57), Lucinda Knudsen (70) and Jessika Robertson (86) also played in the match for Vintage.

Nicole Bruner and Katherine Jena each had 49s to lead Vintage in Thursday’s non-league match at Rancho Solano in Fairfield. Chantelle Foure (63), Lucinda Knudsen (74) and Jessika Robertson (91) also played for Vintage.
