Daily briefing
Speak up about downtown parking garage
Napa city and county officials want to hear from the public as plans move ahead for the construction of a proposed four-level parking garage at Fifth and Main streets in downtown Napa.
The meeting will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Napa City-County Library Community Meeting Room, 580 Coombs St., near the planned garage location. Members of both governmental entities will be on hand along with consultants from Watry Design, the firm that has been assisting in the planning process.
The meeting is designed to outline the process by which architects and contractors will be chosen in order to begin work by next spring.
City council members and county supervisors have agreed in concept on a $14.3 million, 449 vehicle facility that would occupy the space just behind the present county jail and north of the library. It could also have private participation as several nearby businesses have expressed an interest.
Questions in advance can be directed to Howard Siegel, the county's community partnership manager, 253-4621 or Cassandra Walker, the city's economic development manager, 257-9502./Register
