Mr. and Mrs. David Church celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 12 at the Napa Elks Lodge with a buffet dinner attended by approximately 100 friends and relatives.

The Churches were married at the Napa Methodist Church on Aug. 12, 1956. Shortly after that, David left for a stint in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., where Doris joined him. After his discharge from the service, they returned to Napa, where David went to work for the Napa Register as a printer and continued his career with Scripps League Newspapers. He retired from the Napa Valley Register in 2000.
Doris worked for the Napa Unified School District in food service and retired from her position as assistant manager of the Silverado Middle School kitchen in 2002.

Attending the party was their daughter, Lisa Harrah; her husband, Pat and their children, Blake and Alec of Chesapeake, Va.; their son, Edward; his wife Leydis; and children, Aleena and Brandon of Newcastle. Also in attendance were their best man and maid of honor, Wayne and Gladys Farrer of Woodinville, Wash.
The Churches are planning a cruise to Alaska in June of 2007 to celebrate their 50 years of marriage.
