Napan helps at-risk youth in Washington, D.C.

Penelope Spain, along with another American University law school graduate, founded ToDAY (Mentoring to Develop the Aspirations of our Youth), a new grass-roots nonprofit organization that brings together mentors with Washington, D.C. teens who are returning to the community from Oak Hill Youth Center, the city's secure juvenile detention facility.
Spain is a Napa native who graduated from St. John's Catholic School in 1990 and Napa High in 1994. While growing up in Napa, she traveled with the Silverado Ballet on charity tours abroad./Register

Napa High student attended youth leadership forum on technology
Taylor Fugit, a junior at Napa High School, attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Technology in San Jose in July. Fugit was nominated by AP biology teacher, Mr. Mulligan and is an honor student, treasurer of the Key Club, a member of the Napa High School swim team, and sings in the concert and chamber choirs./Register

Former Napan chosen for "Boys' State"
Former Napa resident, Dexter Jensen, was chosen to attend "Boys' State" in Sacramento this past June. Each year, boys are nominated by their school to participate in the government leadership program. While at Boys' State, Jensen met with Governor Schwarzenegger and members of our state congress. Jensen is the son of Blake and Laurel Jensen, former Napans, and is the grandson of Julie Young of Napa./Register

Napan completes Plebe Summer Midshipman Fourth Class Myles Butler, son of Myles and Cindy Butler of Napa and brother of Peter and Robert Butler, recently completed six weeks of Plebe Summer at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Butler is a 2006 graduate of Napa High School./Register
