Man-to-Man Support Group to meet
Join us on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Queen of the Valley Hospital in classroom A. Open to men with prostate cancer, their families and other interested individuals. Dr. Christian Anderson, of Queen of the Valley Hospital's Radiation Oncology Department, will be the guest speaker and lead a tour of the Queen of the Valley Imaging Center, including the MRI and CAT scan facilities. Respiratory rally to be held

More than 300,000 people in the Bay Area are affected by chronic lung disease. In Napa County, an estimated 1,800 residents have emphysema and 4,360 have chronic bronchitis.

To help individuals suffering from breathing problems to learn more about their disease and how to manage it, the American Lung Association of California, Redwood Empire Branch, will present a free respiratory rally, a day-long seminar for patients and their caregivers on Saturday at Napa Valley Unified School District Education Center, 2425 Jefferson St., in Napa from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. A free lunch will be served. September diabetes classes

The September afternoon diabetes class series at Queen of the Valley Hospital begins Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. and runs for four Thursdays in a row. The September evening class series begins this Tuesday and runs for four Tuesdays in a row at 6 p.m. The pre-diabetes class is Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. Please note that registration is required for these classes. MS Society Bike Tour More than 1,500 cyclists are expected to participate in the Northern California Chapter of the National MS Society's MS 150 Waves to Wine Bike Tour on Sept. 9 and 10. Copia seeks volunteers

Copia is the wine country gathering place for people, learning and ideas. Through a menu of fun and interactive programs, tastings, exhibitions, festivals, dining, performances and organic gardens, we bring the general public and enthusiasts together with leading vintners, chefs, gardeners and artists to explore and celebrate wine, food, gardens and the arts.

Napa Valley Bonsai Club

Come for a labor of love on Monday at the Napa Senior Center at 7:30 p.m. This will be a workshop where bonsai enthusiasts get together to work on their respective trees, comparing notes, offering advice and enjoying the friendship of those who share their passion for miniature living trees. ParentsCAN announces "Grand Traditions: In Celebration of Grandparents" Event "Grand Traditions: In Celebration of Grandparents" will take place Saturday, Grandparents Day, at the Sutter Home Ranch in St. Helena and will feature a talk by renowned author and foremost expert on intergenerational relationships, Dr. Arthur Kornhaber. The event will also honor Jack and Donna Morgan of Angwin who have supported family health, education and the arts causes for decades, and who have been heroic grandparents in their own family. The Family Support Group is a monthly meeting for friends and families of adults or children who face mental health issues. Hospice of Napa Valley offers grief support groups for community members who have experienced loss. Meetings are free. Tea & Comfort

Families of 9/11 tragedy honored at Library Program

Olga Barss de Ward of Napa has painted 30 portraits of victims of 9/11. These were men who died in the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, and left pregnant wives behind at the time of their deaths. The artist plans to donate these portraits to the widows and their children. These portraits will be displayed at the Napa Main Library.

Join us on Sept. 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at the Napa Main Library, 580 Coombs Street in downtown Napa. Admission is free, although seating is limited, so come early to get a seat. For more information, or to reserve a seat, please call the library at 253-4235.
