An open and shut case for the front door

Homeowners who count on lavish interiors to bedazzle guests may overlook the one architectural element that sets the stage for all that follows: the front door.

Wrenches, with a twist, and pliers with grip

We were pleased when we opened the mail recently and discovered that someone had sent us a sample of a new ratchet-style box-wrench. We were a little disappointed, though, when we thought that the package only contained two wrenches, not a full set. But it wasn't a partial set at all. The two wrenches constituted a full eight-piece set of box wrenches. Each of the two-box wrench ends is shaped into two sizes (two ends on each wrench, two sizes on each end, four sizes per wrench). Two wrenches -- eight sizes. Each end of each wrench boasts a reversible ratchet and a 5-degree ratchet lock. This means that the tool can be operated in a very tight space. If you live in an apartment and want the most tool for the storage space available, then you want to look into this one.

Mints offer great variety, pleasing scents

Mint has been prized for centuries, as Greek mythology attests. Pluto transformed the beautiful nymph he loved into this sweet-scented herb to save her from the wrath of his jealous wife.

Trosin

Robert and Jo Anne Trosin of Napa celebrated their 50th anniversary May 13. They were married on May 12, 1956, in Goodhue, Minn. Their children, Stephanie Behymer, Kim Trosin, Judy Barrett, Renee Lawson and Tony Trosin held a party in their honor at Rohlffs Manor, where they reside. Their maid of honor, Isabelle Theobald, sister of Jo Anne, surprised them by coming from Minnesota. Many family members and friends came from different parts of the country to help celebrate. Father Gordon Kalil of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church conducted the ceremony of the renewal of their marriage vows. A choral group, called the Sing Alongs, performed a variety of songs, reminiscent of years past. Many memories were shared with the hopes and dreams of others to follow. A blessing and thank you for all who shared in their wonderful day.
