WCAN swimmers compete in Ukiah

Wine Country Aquatics of Napa posted some solid results at a recent meet in Ukiah.
Robin Dore-Andrews was the top swimmer. He qualified for his first Far Western Swim Meet, to be held July 26-30 in Concord, in the 50 free.

Dore-Andrews also qualified for four events (50 free, 100 free, 200 free and 500 free) for the Adam Szmidt Memorial Junior Olympic Meet in Concord, July 13-16.
Dore-Andrews, competing in the 13-14 age group, was first in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free and 200 individual medley, and second in the 500 free, 100 back and 100 fly.

Baily Clem, one of the team’s up and coming swimmers at age 12, just missed Junior Olympic qualifying times in the 11-12 group in several events.
Clem, achieving all personal bests, placed third in the 100 breast, third in the 50 back, eighth in the 50 breast, fifth in the 100 free and seventh in the 50 free.

Brooke Obranovich and Jess Maguire also swam well.

Obranovich took third in the 200 breast with an eight-second drop off her personal best, while Maguire took third in the 100 fly with a four-second drop off her personal best.

Maguire recorded personal bests in all of her events, including the 50 free, 100 free, 100 breast and 100 fly.

Julian Nolan, 14, was 11th in the 100 breast; Dan Maguire, 13, placed ninth in the 100 breast; and Mara Rennie, 9, posted an eighth in the 50 breast.

Nolan, Maguire and Rennie all swam best times at this meet.

Wine Country Aquatics will attend the R.E.A.L. Championship Meet in Santa Rosa on Aug. 5-6.

WCAN swims at Long Course Invitational

Wine Country Aquatics of Napa attended Napa Valley Swim Team’s and North Bay Aquatics’ Long Course Invitational June 7-8.

Here are the results:

11-12 Age Group

• Bailey Clem — 50 breast, eighth, 46.65; 50 free, third, 34.35; 100 free, ninth, 1.16.64; 50 back, ninth, 41.90; 100 back, fourth, 1.28.30; 100 breast, fourth, 1.37.14.

Clem achieved all personal best times at this meet.

• Ashley Houghton — 50 breast, third, 51.38; 50 free, sixth, 39.44; 100 free, third, 1.28.66; 50 back, third, 47.12; 100 breast, third, 1.49.73; 50 fly, first, 43.65.

Houghton also achieved all personal bests at this meet.

13-14 Age Group

• Brooke Obranovich — 50 free, sixth, 33.81; 100 free, 12th, 1.15.7; 100 breast, sixth, 1.38.13; 200 breast, seventh, 3.34.1.

• Rebecca Langham — 50 free, second, 42.23; 100 breast, first, 1.43.41; 200 breast, second, 3.46.00.

• Robin Dore-Andrews — 50 free, second, 28.56; 100 free, first, 1.02.7; 100 back, fifth, 1.20.25; 100 fly, fifth, 1.15.26; 200 free, fifth, 2.20.25

• Dan Maguire — 50 free, fourth, 35.99; 100 free, fifth, 1.23.95; 100 back, ninth, 1.37.37; 100 breast, ninth, 1.52.43.

• Julian Nolan — 50 free, sixth, 37.74; 100 free, sixth, 1.24.72; 100 breast, sixth, 1.46.25; 200 breast, third, 3.37.10; 200 individual medley, 3.21.92, 32-second drop in time.

15-16 Age Group

• Jessie Maguire — 50 free, fifth, 36.27; 100 free, fifth, 1.20.12; 100 breast, sixth, 1.41.59; 100 fly, first, 1.29.93.
