Questions about Measure H

Dear editor,

It's really hard for me to vote yes on Measure H for the following reasons:
* This is a state highway and should be a state problem, is it?

* What happened to our gasoline tax money? The state and county should have collected millions of dollars for road repair, especially with the cost of fuel now. The gasoline tax money should have been in a locked box instead of going into the general fund, which can be used for any and everything the politicians chose to spend it on. By the way, where has all of that gasoline tax money gone, can anyone answer that?
* With the back-up on 80 and 29, it would seem smarter and cheaper for the state to install a center divider through Jamieson Canyon to save lives, because no matter how wide a road you install in the canyon you will still find back-up on both ends.

* If Napa passes Measure H, are we changing the Jamieson Canyon road only to the Solano County line?
* Is Solano County going to finish the project all the way to Highway 80?

* Has the local pothole repair been put on hold so we (the taxpayers) can see how bad it will be if we don't vote with our local county supervisors and city council?

My conclusion is that Measure H has not addressed any of these questions in all of the ads I have seen and/or read. So I must believe that Napa County is trying to find another way to tax the people, under the pretense of correcting our congested and unsafe highways with a tax increase, money we have already paid through our gasoline tax. I just purchased a new car in Napa; my sales tax was over $1,700, which I think is more than enough to pay. How many people will go out of town to buy a car or other large ticket items to save extra taxation?
