Pay for what is taken

Dear editor,

I think all the fuss generated by the opponents of Measure A is just a diversion to distract us from the real point. Instead of talking about what is right and proper, they what it will cost them. It's like a bunch of shoplifters griping about how much it will cost them if they have to pay for everything they pilfer.
We shouldn't be distracted by their whining. Just focus on the real question posed by Measure A. If the government takes your property, should you be compensated? It's the same as asking if a shop owner should be paid for the merchandise people carry out of his store. Once we focus on the real question, we find that the answer is obvious.

We have to pay for what we take, or we shouldn't take it. For those whose mothers failed to teach them that, Measure A will be a convenient reminder. I say vote yes on Measure A.
