Dear editor,

On Wednesday May 24, all candidates running for the one open American Canyon city council position attended their last public forum. From this point forward candidates will not be publicly answering questions from the American Canyon voters.
On the 24 one of the questions put to the candidates by the moderator was "Are you for or against a Super Wal-Mart coming to American Canyon?" My husband and I were shocked to hear that only one candidate emphatically stated he was against a Super Wal-Mart coming here; the candidate who made this statement was J.T. Miller.

Ms. Joan Bennett, who ran her last campaign on the basis of being against Wal-Mart has now changed her mind, we are disappointed with her "questionable" change of mind. Now we have changed our minds to vote for Mr. Miller. Ed West defended a Super Wal-Mart coming here; he's another registered Republican defending the "corporate big guys," what else is new? We have witnessed Wal-Mart's financial impact on plummeting home and property values when they build in smaller towns and cities. Why aren't the other five candidates paying attention to the Wal-Mart catastrophe in Hercules? If they can stop Wal-Mart from destroying their city we surely can do the same, and should.
