The right man for the job

Dear editor,

I want to comment on your recent endorsement of District Attorney Gary Lieberstein and about the job he has done during his time in office. My comments are truly from the inside looking out, because I work for Mr. Lieberstein. First, your endorsement was an accurate, on-point evaluation of this year's campaign. Mr. Lieberstein is the most qualified candidate. He has a proven record of successful prosecutions during his 21 years at the district attorney's office. As a working Napa County Sheriff's detective during the '80s and '90s, I personally worked with and around Mr. Lieberstein concerning many serious felony cases. Early on, it was clear that his knowledge of the law and work ethic were above reproach. He was to "go to" person. During the last eight years he has steadfastly committed his time, energy and knowledge of the law in overseeing the day to day operations of the district attorney's office. Specialized units within the office are dedicated to gang violence, elder abuse, domestic violence and consumer fraud. Successful prosecutions by these units as well as the felony and misdemeanor prosecutors here have been reported in the Napa Register regularly. But, I wish all could see the day to day operations of the district attorney's office and the hard work and commitment of a dedicated group of prosecutors and staff led by Mr. Lieberstein. I only have my word and I assure you that Mr. Lieberstein is the right man for the job.
