Monica Wilson of Napa and Thomas Knecht Jr., of San Carlos, announce their engagement with plans to marry July 22, 2006, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Napa.

Monica is the daughter of Jake and Donna Wilson of Napa and the granddaughter of Marie Perhay of Napa. She graduated from Vintage High School in 1995 and earned a bachelor's degree and teaching credential from Sonoma State University in 2000. Monica teaches seventh-grade language arts and social studies in the Napa Valley Unified School District and has coached the eighth-grade girls basketball team and the seventh- and eighth-grade track team at American Canyon Middle School for the past four years.
Thomas is the son of Thomas Knecht Sr. of San Carlos and Judy Metcalf of Boulder Creek. He is the grandson of Ann McKinney of San Bruno. Thomas graduated from Woodside High School in 1990 and earned an associate's degree in fire technology from Cabrillo College in 2005. He is employed as a firefighter/paramedic for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in Pescadero.
