How ya gonna keep em on the farm?

Hank Spurlock and his Border collie, Heidi, show the crowd how they herd sheep at the Napa Valley Expo Friday during A Day at the Farm. The educational fair for children showcased Napa County agriculture. The event drew more than 600 children from the county’s elementary schools who met “Sharpie” the giant glassy-winged sharpshooter and watched sheep-shearing demonstrations, tasted honey fresh from a beehive, and got to pet baby rabbits, piglets, lambs, goats and other farm animals. They also got to see worm composting demonstrations and learn about recycling. More than 30 exhibitors from agricultural organizations like the Napa County Farm Bureau, Acorn Soupe, Master Gardeners, and 4-H helped make the event fun and educational.
