Napa Valley Swim Team shines in meet at NVC

The Napa Valley Swim Team recently hosted a Pacific Swimming B/A+ swim meet. The meet was held at the Napa Valley College aquatic facility and attended by over 400 swimmers from Northern California. The NVST had 46 swimmers participate, earning 219 best times.
The NVST had three new swimmers competing for the first time. Competing in the 8-and-under division was Louise Ayers, competing in the 9-10 age group was Brittany Paul, and competing in the 13-14 age group was Corinne Schafle.

In the 8-and-under girls age group, Madi Anderson placed first in the 50 breast, second in the 25 breast, fifth in the 50 back and eighth in the 25 and 50 free. Anderson also earned a new “A” time in the 50 back. Rose Ballantine placed third in the 50 breast, seventh in the 25 back and eighth in the 100 free. Ballantine earned new “A” times in the 25 back and 100 free. Mia Facey placed fourth in the 50 butterfly, fifth in the 25 back and sixth in the 50 breast. Kailey Medina placed fourth in the 100 free, sixth in the 100 individual medley and seventh in the 50 free. Medina earned new “A” times in the 100 free and 100 IM.
On the boys side in the 8-and-under age group, Colby Gibbs had an outstanding weekend, placing first in six of his eight entered events. Gibbs was first in the 25 free, 50 free, 25 back, 50 back, 50 fly and second in the 25 fly and 25 breast. Rio Barnes placed third in the 25 back and fourth in the 50 back and 100 IM. Barnes earned a new “A” time in the 100 IM.

In the 9-10 girls age group, Alex Swanson earned 100 percent best times in her events. Elise Roberts earned a new Junior Olympic time for the 100 breast (1:33.08). Ximena Mendieta placed in the “A” division top eight for six events. Mendieta was fifth in the 50 back, sixth in the 50 fly and 100 fly, seventh in the 100 IM and eighth in the 50 free and 100 free. Saleena Galambos placed seventh in the 50 free.
In the 11-12 girls age group, Alli Channels earned a new Far Western qualifying time for the 200 back (2:26.92). Placing in three events in the “A” division, Channels was second in the 100 fly, fifth in the 50 free and sixth in the open 200 fly. Brittany Sicard earned a new Junior Olympic time for the 200 free (2:16.18) and a new “A” time for the 200 IM.

In the 13-14 girls age group, Sarah Lenson earned 100 percent lifetime bests and new “A” times for the 100 free (1:01.66) and 500 free (5:49.55). Lenson placed seventh in the open 200 fly. Elizabeth Holman placed third in the 100 breast and fifth in the 100 free in the “A” division.

On the boys side, Jesse Risinger earned new “AA” times in the 100 and 200 free. Risinger also swam to five new Junior Olympic times for the 50 free (25.61), 100 free (55.18), 200 free (2:00.14), 500 free (5:27.55) and 200 IM. (2:20.04). Risinger placed third in the “A” division for 100 free and 50 free and sixth in the open 200 breast.

In the 15-16 girls age group, Dori Bland placed in the “A” division in four events. Bland was fourth in 50 free and 100 breast, sixth in the 100 free and seventh in the open 200 free. Jesselyn Kennedy placed fifth in the “A” division for the 100 free. Danielle Carey placed seventh in the “A” division for the 100 fly and seventh in the open 200 back.

In the 17-18 girls age group, Jocelyn Phillips won three “A” division events. Phillips was first in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly. Phillips was second in the 100 breast and third in the 100 fly and 200 IM.

The following swimmers earned lifetime best swims over the course of the weekend:

• In the 8-and-under age group, Louis Ayers.

• In the 9-10 age group, Eric Boessenecker, Elyssa Jane Erickson, JoAnna Haas, Miles McArdle, Brittany Paul, Megan Perna, Daniel Richardson, Shania Stagner, Emily Stephens.

• In the 11-12 age group, Seth Anderson, Laurie Ann Bates, Laurel Davis, Erica Facey, Olivia Husted, Jake Kennedy, Anastasija Kuprijanova, Delaney Messner, Nick Meyer, Megan Morris, Evan Roscoe.

In the 13-14 age group, McCoy Ayers, Sierra Barnes, Sarah Frisch, Corinne Schafle, Nick Kozlowski, Jacob Sykes and Breanna Weber.

• In the 15-16 age group, Janina Meyer and Anthony Kozlowski.
